Mark As Completed Discussion

PostgreSQL, also known as Postgres is an open-source object-relational database system, first developed at the University of California in Berkeley. The initial version was designed and developed to work on UNIX-like systems, but it evolved with time to become mobile and possible to run on other platforms like macOS or Windows.

Being open-source, its source code is available under the PostgreSQL license and anyone is free to use it, modify or distribute in any form. It has proved itself as a very stable platform, so there is little effort (and time) needed to maintain it.

The system is known for its performance, reliability, and feature robustness, so it is becoming one of the preferred databases for enterprises. It currently lies in fourth place in one of the most relevant database rankings - DB-Engines Ranking.
