What Are Your Salary Expectations?

Another question you will most probably be asked is regarding your compensation expectations. One of the main reasons HR experts ask is because they want to make sure that the income you expect is something they can offer. Many businesses have a defined budget for the different jobs for which they hire personnel, and they must stick to it in order to prevent having to make other cuts. While most businesses prefer to stick to their budget, some will make exceptions if the candidate has an extraordinary skill or if numerous candidates are asking for a comparable wage that is greater than the company's initial budget. They also want to make sure you aren't overqualified for the position, but also that you are aware of your value and aren't underestimating yourself. You should avoid stating an exact amount – state a salary range instead.
