Genetic Algorithm (GA)

GA is an evolutionary algorithm and is inspired by the process of natural selection. According to Darwin, natural selection is a mechanism by which populations of different species adapt and evolve. The Fittest individuals survive and reproduce more similar offspring while weak individuals are eliminated with the passage of time. By taking inspiration from this concept, John Holland proposed GA in which a population of candidate solutions is generated randomly for a problem. Better solutions are given a higher chance to produce similar solutions by performing crossover. Obviously, a new generation will inherit more from better solutions resulting in the survival of the traits of better solutions.
